Pop superstar Lady Gaga has made an art out of taking people by surprise whenever she does something unexpected or out of the ordinary. It’s par for the course when you make a career out of performing in the most out-of-this-world outfits. She also takes her musical performances very seriously, with commendable dedication to practicing for her next on-stage number. Now, it’s already been known that Gaga is up to perform during halftime at the upcoming Super Bowl LI (after singing the National Anthem for last year’s Super Bowl 50). Recent social media uploads reveal the extent of her preparations.

It appears she’s going for something more close to home, literally, for her rehearsals, seeing as she along with her dance crew are pretty much encamped out in her own backyard.

Practicing at home

This comfy arrangement was first glimpsed online thanks to an Instagram pic from Gaga Tuesday January 17, depicting (sideways due to camera view orientation shenanigans) the outside of her home in southern California with a large tented-in dance area, with the singer and her backup dancers crowding in front of it for a group shot. The accompanying caption reads, “SuperBowl Rehearsal is so fun. We built a tent in my backyard with a dancefloor to practice! We love you monsters, can't wait to perform for u!” At roughly the same day she also gave a sneak peek at her own physical conditioning.

In fact, this photo merely showed how Gaga was prepping for the halftime show; an earlier picture from Sunday January 15, also on Instagram, was her way of reminding fans about her Super Bowl halftime appearance, showing her in an NFL shirt and captioned, "Rehearsal #cantstopwontstop dream big and never give up #halftime."

Instagram uploads by Gaga over the past week show more about her other Super Bowl preparations before the backyard tent came up, from time in a band studio to relaxing by going on horseback rides.

Super Bowl LI

The 51st modern-era (post-AFL-NFL merge) Super Bowl will go down at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas (third-time Super Bowl host) on February 5, 2017. The belligerents are yet to be determined as the New England Patriots clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the AFC championship, while the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers decide who will be the NFC champion. Lady Gaga will see herself joining the likes of Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Coldplay in headlining the most recent Super Bowl halftime extravaganzas.
