Just when the American public thought it heard all the lies about the June 9 meeting of Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort with Russians, another “Alternative Fact” just emerged. The Washington Post reports Donald Jr.’s prepared statement about discussing adoption of Russian children came from President Donald Trump.

The statement that Donald Jr. was a product of the president’s fertile mind hatched while he was on the presidential plane, the Air Force One, while on a return flight from Germany where he attended the G20 Summit. The namesake issued the statement to The New York Times in which he claimed what they discussed at the Trump Tower meeting, at that time, was allegedly not a campaign issue.

Attempt to mislead

Since events that followed showed what Donald Jr. said was another alternative fact from the Trump factory, aides of the real estate billionaire are worried the president is digging his own hole. They said his move could be interpreted an attempt to mislead the nation what really transpired, The New York Post reports.

The day after Donald Jr. issued the statement, The New York Times confronted him about the offer of political dirt on the Democrats from Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. Trump's son was forced to admit there was such an offer from the female lawyer.

A few days later, it emerged there were three more Russians in the meeting, plus a British publicist who arranged the meeting by email, the contents of which Donald Jr.

tweeted to pre-empt newspapers. News of Trump’s personal hand in the lies that his namesake made comes at a time that the White House is in crisis following the resignation of Press Secretary Sean Spicer, the entry and booting out after just 11 days of Wall Street financier Anthony Scaramucci, and the resignation of Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Semblance of order

Trump is attempting to give the White House a semblance of a president’s office in order with the appointment of retired Gen. John Kelly to replace Priebus. Trump, who continues to harass Attorney General Jeff Sessions, reportedly wants Kelly by his side when special counsel Robert Mueller releases his report on the result of his Russian investigation.

Aides to the president say that Trump frequently just sets aside when the recommendations of experts out of the belief he is not in a political danger and he has all the solutions to the political crisis.
