We all have regrets. We all have things that keep us up at night. There are memories we want to forget and things we wish that we could do over. Regret: it's something that we all experience, but it's a worthless emotion. There's nothing we can do to rewrite history. Trying to fix the past is a never-ending disappointment. Don't lead yourself down that road.

It's okay to let go

It may seem impossible sometimes to let ourselves off the hook for the mistakes that we make and the bad decisions that haunt our minds, but we should because we need to.

There's no use in constantly thinking about something we have no control over. Instead of focusing our energy on what's set in stone, we need to focus on what's yet to come. The future is unknown. It's beautiful, scary, intimidating, and unbelievably exciting. It's everything. It's what matters.

Regret holds us hostage

Regret can easily eat away at you if you let it, so it's important to remind yourself the harm that it can cause. You'll lead a miserable life if you always allow your thoughts to wander to the past, in lieu of living in the present and preparing for the future. Stop worrying about the significant other that left you or the friends that you lost along the way. What's done is done and it can't be undone.

Nevertheless, even though the past can't be changed, you have the chance to make every second count. Grasp this moment. None of us want to have regrets, but we do and we want to have as little of them as possible. In order to minimize regret, leave behind negativity and begin living for today. The only way to stop adding more regrets to the pile is to do what makes you happy, and what makes you excited to wake up every morning.

We all deserve that.

My challenge for you

Everything is impossible until you do it, so I challenge you to push regrets out of your mind. I challenge you to take every day in stride and do something now that will make you thank yourself later. I challenge you to take back control. I challenge you to smile and to have a positive attitude, even when it seems like your world is crashing down on you.

I challenge you to give yourself a second chance. It doesn't Matter what you've done or what you've said. You can become the best version of yourself now, so do it. It will most likely be the toughest thing you've ever had to do, but I promise you won't regret this decision. You're too good to have regrets. You're too amazing to hate yourself this much, so stop regretting and start doing.
