It has been over 4 months since Tom Brady became the G.O.A.T in some people’s eyes after winning his fifth Super Bowl ring. The Atlanta Falcons blew a 28-3 lead and ended up losing in overtime. Despite Brady having the most Super Bowl rings, there are other players more deserving of being number one on on the NFL’s Top 100 list, which will be revealed on June 26. Here is why Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Aaron Rodgers should get the top seed before the G.O.A.T.

Matt Ryan’s camp

Being the number one guy of 2016 comes down to more than just winning the big game.

Matt Ryan was the league MVP this year for a reason. Ryan came close to throwing for 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns. His low interception rate of 7 is also something to be commended. He also posted a 2016 passer rating of 117.1 and blew out two teams in the 2016 playoffs.

When you look at Brady’s season statistics, he threw for about 3500 yards and 28 touchdowns. While his 2 interceptions are low, his 112.2 rating is still less than Ryan’s numbers. Besides, is it right to give the title to someone who was suspended 4 games for cheating with deflated footballs? The Atlanta Falcons also made Brady look like a rookie on the run for 2.5 quarters. Not many teams can do that to Brady. It seems as if Ryan was the better quarterback this year and deserves the number one honor.

Julio Jones supporters

Without wide receiver Julio Jones, Ryan would only have been half the quarterback that he ended up being this past season. Who can forget the impossible catch that Jones managed to snag and land with both feet in bounds at the 22-yard line of New England in the Super Bowl? Jones set the Falcons up perfectly for a potential winning field goal that was snuffed out with a sack and questionable play calls by Kyle Shanahan.

Jones ended up with 1409 yards and 83 receptions for the season. Those are excellent numbers that also deserve a number one spot.

Aaron Rodgers’ backers

In terms of all-around quarterback, there is not much that Aaron Rodgers cannot do. He has become the “God of the Hail Mary’s” after completing 3 out 7 Hail Mary’s for touchdowns in the past two seasons.

He is the reason many NFL teams defend against the Hail Mary in practice. Rodgers also has a gun of an arm, can scramble, and is one of the best at reading the field and teams’ defenses. If an opposing defense has an extra guy on the field, he sees it and quickly runs a play to make sure a penalty is called. His numbers for 2016 are 4,428 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. His passer rating of 104.2 is solid. Brady cannot scramble like Rodgers or come close to making the Hail Mary’s. Rodgers also trumps him in touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers is the better man for number one on the NFL’s Top 100 list.

May the best football player win.
