The Golden State warriors wrapped up Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals by defeating the San Antonio Spurs 129-115. The win means that the Warriors will be in their third consecutive NBA Finals. They will await the winner of the Cleveland-Boston series which currently is 2-1 in favor of the Cavaliers.

The NBA Finals will start June 1st in Oracle Arena where the Warriors are undefeated in the playoffs. The Warriors dominance in the playoffs has brought up the question if the West is that bad or if the Warriors are just that good. There might be more than one answer to this question.

The West was actually really good

Fans and critics alike are asking themselves if the Western Conference is that bad or if the if the Warriors are just that dominant are just that dominant. The Western Conference, in perspective, was the better of the two conferences in the NBA by team regular season records. The west had 5 teams that won 50 plus games and two of them had over 60. The Eastern Conference only had 3 teams win 50 plus and none won more 53 games.

In the playoffs The Portland Trail Blazers got swept by the Warriors in the first round despite big games from their talented back court of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. They are one of the best pair of guards in the whole league and for the Warriors to beat them is impressive.

The Utah Jazz also got swept by the Warriors in 4 games despite being the number 1 defense team in the NBA.

The Jazz were a really good team in the regular season with 51 wins and they were able to beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. The Spurs might be a different story. San Antonio seemed to be the only team that was going to be able to make the series interesting against the Warriors, but that didn’t pan out because of the injury to Kawhi Leonard.

Many believe that it would have been a 6 game series instead of a 4 game sweep.

The Warriors are just that good

The Warriors have begun the 2017 NBA playoffs undefeated and now are waiting for their opponent in the Finals. The Warriors are just that good and it’s ok. The Warriors faced pretty good teams in Portland, Utah, and San Antonio.

Those teams were just no match for the Warriors. Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry were just too much to handle. They were able to get whatever shot they wanted and they defended every possession like it was their last.

The Western Conference is really good, but the Warriors are just on another level in terms of talent. Some would say that the competition is not great and that Warriors had an easy road. If Kawhi Leonard was at 100% and The Spurs were at full strength then the conversation might have been different. Warriors still would have won the series but it wouldn’t have been a 4 game sweep. Warriors are just that great and it would be tough to see them lose 4 games in the Finals.
