Fethullah Gulen is a name which many Americans would not be interested in. He is, however, an important man and is in exile in the United States. His name has cropped up in the ongoing investigation about the Russian connection and the role of Lt Gen Michael Flynn, former security advisor to the US president. Flynn lasted only 24 days before he was sacked for lying about his Russian connection. Flynn appears to have been a con-man and many unsavory acts of his are coming to the foreground. The special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating a bizarre plot by the former Security Advisor, who along with his son planned to kidnap the Turkish Opposition Leader and hand him over to Turkey.

It is alleged he could have made $15 million in the deal. This is reported by Newsweek.

Gulen and Erdogan

This information appears to be authentic as NBC News has also confirmed it and has cited multiple sources which are not named. Fethullah Gulen is an opposition leader who is opposed to the Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkish president accuses Gulen of being the mastermind of the coup attempt against him and has been making all efforts to lay his hands on him. He has also requested the US government to hand over Gulen to him.

Kidnapping plot

In all likelihood, Flynn became part of a plot to kidnap the Muslim cleric. It is alleged that in case Flynn had been able to kidnap the opposition leader, he and his son could have made $ 15 million.

Former CIA Director James Woolsey has said that Flynn attended a meeting in a hotel room in New York City during last September, to discuss plans to kidnap the Turkish opposition leader. The alleged plan was to whisk away Gülen at night by a private jet to the Turkish island prison Imrali.

It has now revealed that during the election Flynn was working as a foreign agent for Turkey.

His company Flynn Intel Group Inc, reportedly received $539,000 to lobby for Turkey in the US. Flynn also wrote an op-ed last November in which he suggested that the US should expel Gülen.

Mueller is already investigating Flynn's role in the Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Closing in on Flynn

The special counsel Mueller's investigations are bringing out many unsavory facts and he has already proceeded against three men who had at various times been on Trump's team. Now he is closing in on Flynn and NBC News has reported that during his investigation, he has uncovered enough evidence to indict Flynn and his son.
