Taylor Swift has sent an apparent peace offering to Cardi B.

After Dominican rapper Cardi B knocked Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” off the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 100 with her new hit “Bodak Yellow,” media and fans were quick to try to instigate a feud between the two. However, the former country singer sent the other performer a large bouquet of pink flowers in congratulations.

Cardi B, legally named Belcalis Almanzar, posted a photo of the bouquet on her Instagram, captioning the photo “Sooo beautiful and lovely. Thank you @taylorswift for the flowers ...

and I freaking love your music.”

Swift’s hit has occupied the No. 1 spot since early September after she dropped the song in late August. Many have theorized that the lyrics are about her ongoing feud with Katy Perry, Kanye, and Kim Kardashian. It rose to the top spot after a week, and became her first chart-topper in the United Kingdom.

Cardi B's single

Cardi B’s debut single, with a major label, came out in June, but took three months to reach the top spot, aided by a remix released by Kodak Black. She had released two previous mixtapes, and signed her first major deal with Atlantic Records in February.

After receiving the news via a phone call that she had knocked Swift’s song off the top spot, Cardi B said she was feeling “very emotional” afterwards - but joked that she wished it wasn’t Swift she was competing against.

“Like, damn, why'd it have to be Taylor Swift? I like her, I like that damn song,” she said according to Billboard, before singing a few lines of the song to make her point.

In another interview with E! Magazine, Cardi B said it did feel good to top Swift due to her longtime success record. “(Swift’s) like a veteran, like, everybody knows, like she's infamous for just being No.

1, No. 1, No. 1 constantly and this is like, 'Come on, let me get that No. 1 one time!” she said.

First for a Dominican

She is the first person of Dominican heritage to reach a No. 1 spot in the United States.

Cardi B rose to fame through her online persona and Instagram videos. A longtime stripper and dancer, Cardi gained a large following with funny videos that often touched on hustling and living life for enjoyment.

Other rappers, including Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Pusha T and T.I., also took to social media to congratulate the Dominican rapper on reaching the No. 1 spot. Lil’ Kim posted a photo on Instagram of her and Cardi B miming a kiss and captioned it, “Congratulations to my baby cakes @iamcardib I always knew this day would come and I am so happy and proud of U! Keep killin it baby! U deserve every bit of it#bodakyellow #cardib #myday1.”

Although “Bodak Yellow” was Cardi B’s first hit, “Look What You Made Me Do” is part of a long string of No. 1s for Swift, who has reached the top of the charts five times.
