“john wick: Chapter Three” officially announced its release date and Keanu Reeves would continue to play his famous titular role as ex-hitman. According to Variety, the franchise previously brought the success to Lionsgate Studio with $260 million worldwide grosses.
Since the blockbuster results, Lionsgate executives expressed their interest in planning for the third film. The studio is expected to release the third installment on May 19, 2019. This is reportedly the first summer release for the film.
Will there be a Matrix reunion?
At the moment, there are no concrete details regarding the movie’s plot.
It can be recalled that Chapter 2 featured the reunion between Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. They formerly worked together during the three films of Matrix, as Neo and Morpheus, respectively.
Meanwhile, Chad Stahelski, who directed “John Wick” chapters one and two, played stunt doubles for Keanu Reeves in the “Matrix Trilogy.” He worked with David Leitch, the co-director of the original film.
What is ‘John Wick’ all about?
The Hollywood Reporter revealed the movie series follows the life of John Wick (Reeves). This r-rated franchise features Reeves as Wick, an ex-hitman who just recently came out of retirement. He got out getting revenge against the gangsters who took away everything from him.
On the other hand, Chapter 2 picked up with bounty hunters. They were fighting him off just to obtain the large price on his head. Moreover, the films are directed by Stahelski and Leitch, which first debuted in October 2014.
Stahelski helmed the sequel to the original film, and it grossed over $171 million worldwide after the release in February 2017.
The very first chapter of the movie grossed over $86 million worldwide. Moreover, screenwriter Derek Kolstad will be returning for chapter three. It can be recalled that he also penned the first two films.
Before the announcement of Chapter 3, Disney announced its new film for “Avengers.” The said network is reimagining the “Aladdin” as well.
