The mother of the killed Charlottesville activist Heather Heyer said in a statement that she has been receiving death threats since her daughter’s passing. The mother, identified as Susan Bro, also said that she would not want to talk to President Donald Trump over her daughter’s untimely death.

Heyer was killed on August 12 while attending a counter protest against a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville. An Ohio man drove through the crowd of the counter protesters injuring 19 and killing Heyer. The driver is reportedly pro-Nazi.

Victim’s mother gives details about the death threats

According to the Washington Post, Bro said she might be receiving the Death threats because she has been appearing on interviews talking about Heyer’s death not silencing her daughter but magnifying her. She noted that these people sending death threats to her might be fearing the talks she has been giving.

Bro refuses to speak with President Trump

According to ABC News, Bro initially wanted to talk to the president, who has been insisting a talk with her. This was after she saw in the news that Trump said both the counter protesters and the white nationalist protesters had fault in the death of Heyer.

Bro noted that she received a phone call from the White House during her daughter’s public memorial but she was not able to get that.

Three more calls came but she was also not able to answer them. Bro initially thanked the president for his words of comfort and for denouncing those promoting violence and hatred but her stance changed after watching the news clip.

Bro also cleared that she did not see negative tweets about Trump but the news clip made her change her mind about meeting the president.

She said that the comments he made “can’t wash this one away by shaking my hand and saying, ‘I’m sorry’.” She also advised the president to think before he speaks.

Bro further denounces Trump’s comments

In another interview, Bro said that she is sure that the person who plowed his car through the crowd of counter protesters was the only one who did something violent during the protests.

Bro said that Trump’s comments that both sides should be blamed for the violence seemingly meant that the murder of her daughter was a part of making America great again as well as the blood on the streets and attacking innocent people with a vehicle.
