South Korea along with the US started their 10-day scheduled military drills on Monday. On Sunday, North Korea announced that if the drills happened, the situation on the Korean Peninsula would worsen, and claimed that the drills, with thousands of troops involved, can grow into the first attempts of a war, the New York Times reported. The North-Korean government has always been against the South-Korean drills and made various weapons' tests during them.

The warning from North Korea

The exercises between South Korea and the US have been held annually for more than 40 years.

In August, North Korea warned that it would launch its ballistic missiles in the area near the territory of Guam, situated in the western Pacific ocean, which is a home to American military bases. President Trump also made an announcement about his plan to send “fire and fury” to make North Korea step aside, so it caused even more political tension between the countries.

North Korean President Kim Jong-un noted that he would “watch a little more the foolish and stupid conduct of the Yankees” before taking the final decision about sending fire missiles near the island of Guam, where more than 170 000 citizens live. Now he is waiting for the US actions to improve the situation.

North Korea also criticized Australia for the plan to join the US and South Korea in the scheduled Military Exercises, saying that it will be a “suicide act” for Australia.

The reaction on the warning

The situation started going wrong 11 days ago. Now there is no information if the US nuclear-capable bombers will be used in the exercises. According to Fox News, in South Korea, the drills led to an "uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war."

Last week, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said there "will be no war on the Korean Peninsula ever again." He assured his citizens that Donald Trump had promised him that he would consult with South Korea's authorities before starting any pressure on North Korea Secretary of State Rex Tillerson claimed that the exercises will go on, and even if the US wants to solve the problem calmly, it will start "a strong military consequence if North Korea chooses wrongly.

China, the main trade partner of North Korea, invoked the US and North Korea to stop any actions which can cause more tensions, such as any military tests from the three countries. China's Global Times newspaper stated that "If South Korea really wants no war on the Korean Peninsula, it should try to stop this military exercise."
