Many questions will be answered tomorrow as the women's semi-finals take place. However, If we have to pick the more interesting duel of the two that would have to be the one between Venus Williams and Johanna Konta. The 37-year old Williams is on her quest to her 5th Wimbledon title. But tomorrow she will face the home favorite Johanna Konta for a spot in the finals - her second of the year and the first at Wimbledon since 2009. On the other hand. Konta has never been at this stage of the tournament before, so she has nothing to lose. In any case, things are bound to get interesting.

The road to semi-finals

It has been a steep road to the semi-finals for both of the players. On the one hand, we have the sixth seed Johanna Konta from Britain and her tough match against Simona Halep, when she was able to prevail in the third set 6-4 after a great battle. Before that, she faced Caroline Garcia when she struggled to find her rhythm before she finally took the upper hand in the third set. However, it was in the second round against the Croatian Dona Vekic that she survived a real scare. In one of the most exciting matches of the tournament, Johanna Konta was able to hold her nerves and win a match by taking the third set 10-8.

On the other hand, the 37-year old Venus Williams spent much less time on the courts.

In the first round, the American faced Mertens and won that match 7-6, 6-4. In the second round, she struggled against Wang who was even able to take the first set, but Venus soon took control. Then, she faced Osaka and won 7-6, 6-4. Venus had no trouble with her fourth round match against Konjuh. Easy win in that match provided a needed rest for the 37-yeard old American before her quarter-finals clash against the Roland Garros champion, Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia.

Many expected a struggle; some even predicted young Latvian to win. However, Venus Williams was able to beat the odds and win the match without dropping a set.

The semi-finals clash

As we could see, both players have come a long way before this semi-final clash. Still, it is hard to predict who will prevail. Konta leads 3-2 in head-to-head meetings, but Venus was able to win their last meeting at the Rome Masters earlier this year.

Before that, Konta took the upper hand in their meeting in Miami, as well as their only Grand Slam meeting in Australia last year. However, Johanna Konta never played semi-finals before in the Grand Slam tournament while Venus has a lot more experience. In the other semi-final duel, Garbine Muguruza will face Magdalena Rybarikova.
