Facebook Live has once again been used to share a video so gruesome and violent that it led to the arrest of three teens involved in it. The video was made by three teens from Mississippi and showed the sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman after which she was brutally beaten and physically assaulted. 19-year old Haleigh Alexis Hudson and two 17-year-old Ezzie Johnson and Kadari Fabien Booker were arrested by the Gulfport Police Department.
What led to their arrests?
The 23-year-old woman, whose name has not been released by the Police, was sexually assaulted and physically beaten after being held captive by the three accused teen.
In the Facebook Live video, the trio is seen forcing the victim to perform oral sexual acts on a man in the bathroom, whose identity has also not been revealed by the Police.
After the sexual assault, the woman is let out of the bathroom and into the living room, where the video shows her sitting on the sofa, while Hudson continuously berates her and insults her. After a while, the 19-year old Hudson walks toward her in a bid to pick a fight with the victim and pushes her. What follows is a shocking display of violence where the woman is beaten repeatedly by Hudson, even as she pleads for her to stop.
The Live video was being viewed on Facebook and had received 48,000 views before the police were finally informed of the incident.
They reached the scene of the crime and arrested all three of the accused after reviewing the whole footage themselves. All of the teens involved now face felony charges. Hudson faces additional charges of sexual assault as well, as the video showed her assaulting the woman physically and sexually quite clearly.
Police also indicated that the accused could in the future face multiple other charges as well.
All three will currently remain in Harrison County Jail and were tried as adults by the court. They remained in custody on bonds of $400,000 and $500,000.
Facebook Live being used to air criminal activity
Since its inception back in 2015, the Facebook Live medium has been used numerous times to showcase violence and crime. In previous instances, people have live streamed sexual abuse, child abuse, suicides and attempted suicides through the live streaming service.
For instance, back in January 2017, a 12-year old girl live streamed her suicide by hanging through Facebook Live.
In the recent Mississippi case, Police later revealed how shocked they were to see that the live streaming video was being watched by people from all over the world and that over a thousand people had also shared the horrific video with others. The spokesperson said that this kind of behavior showed just what the society has turned into.
