Book nerds, gather round and rejoice! New York Times bestselling author John Green is releasing a new book in the fall of 2017.

Six years after the successful release of his last book, "The Fault In Our Stars," the young-adult author is ready to share the details of his new title.

Metaphors and turtles...oh my!

The announcement of Green's new book took place this past week during a VidCon panel. VidCon is an annual conference that celebrates online videos, their creators, and their viewers. This year the event took place in Anaheim, California. John Green and his brother, Hank Green, are known as the creators of VidCon.

Green's new novel is titled "Turtles All the Way Down," and it's set to be released on October 10th of the current year, with Dutton Books as the publisher.

During the announcement, Green commented that he has been working on this novel for several years now. He went on to explain that the main plot of his new title features a 16-year-old girl named Aza Holmes, who is investigating the "disappearance of a fugitive billionaire" while dealing with mental illness. The author also commented that part of it will be based on his lived experiences, “This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood, so while the story is fictional, it is also quite personal,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, the publisher also shared some commentary on the book, explaining that it will involve meaningful friendships, fan fiction about "Star Wars," a touching reunion, and the New Zealand reptiles known as tuatara.

But, at the center of it all will be the life and humanity of the young protagonist, who has to deal with "the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.”
