Tiger Woods, whose real name is Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods, was arrested on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, at approximately 3 a.m. during a traffic stop in Jupiter, Florida on the suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The Jupiter Police Department confirmed the arrest, according to US Weekly.

The 41-year-old golf legend was initially booked, but he was released at 10:50 a.m. without having to pay any bail, according to court records. Since then, his mugshot has been posted on social media that shows him looking tired, worn, and unshaven.

After his release, the golfer made a statement blaming side effects from prescribed medications and not alcohol for causing his erratic driving. He added that he didn't realize that the combination of medications would affect him that much.

Trouble with back

On April 20, Woods underwent his fourth surgery in three years. The surgeries limited him to only three tournaments in the last two years. He wrote on his website last week that he was feeling much better after his last surgery, and he expected to return to competitive golf. In the meantime, his doctors have advised him to limit all activities. The only thing he has been doing recently is taking his two children to and from school.

Golfing events missed

Before the setbacks with his back, Woods was doing well with competitive golf. However, over the course of the last two years, he canceled a lot of games. The professional golfer did try to play in a competition in February, but he had to withdraw because of back pain after only one round of golf at the Dubai Desert Classic.

Woods was once one of the highest-paid athletes for several years. Perhaps if he hadn't had back troubles, he would have been on his way to beating Jack Nicklaus' 18-major championships record. His back pain has kept him out of a lot of golf tournaments in recent years.

Scandalous past

Woods is famous for his many wins in golf, but he also has a scandalous past.

In 2009, he reportedly had about a dozen extramarital affairs that cost him his marriage. He confessed to the affairs during a press conference shortly after the public found out about an altercation that he and his ex-wife had which resulted in him driving his vehicle into a tree because she allegedly threw a golf club into his windshield. Because of the confessed affairs, Elin Nordegren filed for divorce. They are parents to daughter Sam, 9, and son Charlie, 8.
