As part of a Memorial Day celebration, Donald Trump took part in the singing of the National Anthem. After the footage was broadcasted on television and made the rounds on the internet, it was only a matter of time before the president was roasted on social media.

Trump on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is one of the few holidays where Americans, regardless of political affiliation, can come together to honor the men and women who gave their life defending the United States. Whether someone is Democrat, Republican, or somewhere in between, the holiday often bridges the gap and brings people to a common bond of being American.

However, since the start of the 2016 presidential election, usual routine acts of putting partisanship aside have been dismissed, as the left and right have been at each other's throats in an aggressive manner ever since. With the surprising election of Donald Trump back in November, that partisan divide has only gotten worse, as the former host of "The Apprentice" has watched his approval rating hover around just 40 percent. On Monday, Trump celebrated his first Memorial Day as president at Arlington National Cemetery where he sung and danced to the National Anthem, but it wasn't received well as reported by Mediaite on May 29.

Donald Trump spent time at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday to honor Memorial Day.

In addition to giving pre-planned remarks, Trump was filmed dancing and singing along to the National Anthem, which didn't get the best response on Twitter.

Twitter on Trump

After Donald Trump was caught dancing along to the National Anthem, social media users quickly had the topic trending on Twitter.

"Ur sick demented president Donald Trump just sang and danced to the National Anthem at our most solemn event," one tweet read.

"What a fucking clown.

It's Arlington cemetery and he acts like it's opening day," another social media user added. "Trump belted the National Anthem at Arlington like he was singing a Cher tune in the shower," documentary filmmaker Jeremy Newberger wrote.

"When Memorial Day makes you sing and dance happily...Trump is such an embarrassment," yet another tweet read.

"OMG. OMG. I am shocked. I am shocked he knows the words. You're still a traitor you dumb bloated demagogue," another post added, with a reply adding, "He doesn't. That's a teleprompter in front of him." The negative reaction continued as it was made clear that even on Memorial Day, critics of Donald Trump were not going to let up.
