Within two months, the southern Indian state of tamil nadu has got its third Chief Minister today. E K Palanisami believed to be one of the close aid of jailed AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala was sworn in by Governor C Vidyasagar Rao at 04.30 PM. He took oath in the name of God.

Earlier, O Panneer Selvam had refused to step down from the Chief Minister's chair despite the heavy pressure exerted on him.

But on February 15, 2017, things took an unexpected turn when Sasikala, the front-runner to obtain the Chief Minister's chair was found guilty and was sentenced to prison for four years by the Supreme Court in a corruption case which happened in the 90s.

Fifteen days time to prove the majority

Sasikala is now in Parappana Agrahara Jail, Bangalore serving her jail sentence. The higher AIADMK officials have finally chosen Palaniswami as the state Chief now, and the Governer C Vidyasagar Rao have asked Palaniswami to prove his majority in the Assembly within fifteen days.

There are 234 legislators in the Tamil Nadu assembly, and Palaniswami should obtain the support of at least 118 members to make the future journey of his Government a safe bet.

Top Government officials including Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan were present during the swearing in ceremony.

Will Panneer Selvam bounce back?

As E K Palaniswami has now taken his oath as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Panneer Selvam conducted a Press Conference in Chennai on Thursday afternoon and told that his battle to obtain justice would continue in the coming days as well.

Selvam also added that he has always been working for the betterment of the party, and he called these developments very unfortunate. As per PanneerSelvam, he was forced to resign from the post of the CM, and now, he has begun the "Dharma Yudha."
