July 11 of every year is National 7-Eleven Day. The convenience store wants customers to celebrate the day by stopping by and picking up a free Slurpee in any flavor. This year, there are some new flavors. The store has a cotton candy flavor that tastes just like the spun sugar you get at the carnival or state fair. Of course, the familiar Wild Cherry and Coca-Cola flavors will be available as well as cinnamon-flavored Pepsi Fire.

The Slurpee is not the only featured item for the celebration. There are several other bargains you might want to get while you are there.

How to get free Slurpee

All you have to do is go to 7-Eleven between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and fix your own Slurpee either in one flavor or mix the flavors for a refreshing treat on a hot summer day. No purchase is necessary, and you don't need to buy anything or use coupons. The offer is good nationwide in all 56,600 stores in 18 countries. Therefore, if you drink a Slurpee on July 11, you will be like millions of other people around the world who are doing the same thing.

Keep in mind that the while the freebie is intended to be offered most of the day, the deal is available as long as supplies last. Sometimes the stores with a lot of traffic run out of the product. If that happens, just go down the street or around the corner to another 7-Eleven.

Based on what has happened in previous years, the store expects to give away at least 9 million free treats. The store's vice president of marketing said in a statement that ninety years is a big birthday, so there are other items that will be offered during the week from July 12-18. Just download the 7-Eleven app on your mobile device to check out what those items are.

About the store

The store has been thanking its customers with a free Slurpee on 7-11 every year since 1989. According to social media, some people commented that they have been getting free Slurpees many of those years since the store started giving them away almost 30 years ago. Even though there are convenience stores around with other names, 7-Eleven is the first convenience store that was started in 1927.

That means the store is celebrating its 90th birthday. At first, the name was not what it is today. It was originally called the Totem Store because people had to tote their items home. The Irving, Texas store was renamed to 7-Eleven in 1946.

Make sure you get your free Slurpee. Also, share with your friends so they can enjoy the treat as well.
