With the constant pressure from family, friends, and society to get married before hitting the big 30, Reality Television star, Kim Kardashian West opened up about her previous marriage to Kris Humphries on Andy Cohens Watch What Happens Live.
Hitting the Big 30
Although there were other pressing issues that they were quite incompatible from the onset, Kim has come out to say that for her, the decision to get married to Kris Humphries was basically because of the age factor. During the show, she told Andy Cohens that she married Kris Humphries for the wrong reasons.
''I just thought, ‘Holy s—, I’m 30 years old, I better get this together.''
''I better get married, she said. I think a lot of girls do go through that where they freak out thinking they’re getting old and have to figure it out, all their friends are having kids. It was more of that situation.''
They also had compatibility issues
It was observed that when Kim started having fears about her career, Kris showed no interest on their live television show. After a hot verbal exchange during one of their reality show's episode, Kim, 31, filed for a divorce. It was obvious that the media scrutiny, pressures from the shooting reality show, striking a balance between their conflicting work schedules and maintaining their relationship also added up to dissolve the couple's 72-day old marriage.
They had already started doing things separately after their honeymoon. Kardashian cut their honeymoon short so that she could start filming the next season of her reality show.
She was also spotted attending the ''MTV Music Video Awards'' alone. The itinerant nature of her job made Kardashian travel constantly during her marriage.
Hence, her family never really got the chance to bond with Humphries or see him as the husband of their daughter. Besides, Kardashian knew that after their honeymoon, her marriage to Humphries was not going to work.
Before Now
Her first marriage was to a songwriter, Damon Thomas, whom she claimed she suffered domestic violence from before marrying the basketball player.
Kardashian began dating ''Gold Digger'' rapper and longtime friend, Kanye West in April 2012, while still legally married to Humphries. Her divorce was formalized on June 3, 2013.
Kim is presently married to Kanye West and a mother to two lovely children, North and Saint West. The couple marked their third wedding anniversary recently.
Meanwhile, in other news, Kim Kardashian has come out to give reasons why she stopped working with her family's longtime stylist, Monica Rose. According to her, she just wanted a change.
