Fans of animated TV shows and movies will be excited to know that "Invader Zim" is not the only series being produced by Nickelodeon. Both "Hey Arnold" and "Rocko's Modern Life" are scheduled for a reboot. The news broke yesterday that Nickelodeon has plans to develop a classic animated movie for its fans. Disney acquires the distribution rights, and “Invader Zim” is expected to hit a theater near you by the end of 2017.
The cast and scriptwriter of 'Invader Zim'
Nickelodeon has joined hands with Disney and Cartoon Network for this project. It has been revealed that the original cast will return to portray Zim (Richard Horvitz), GIR (Rosearik Rikki Simons), Dib (Andy Berman), and Gaz (Melissa Gahn).
Chris Viscardi has penned the script, and Jhonen Vasquez is returning to co-produce this adventure. According to Cartoon Brew, Nickelodeon has confirmed Lucille Bliss and Rodger Bumpass for the supporting characters.
The story
“Invader Zim” first came in the form of an animated television series. Jhonen Vasquez is the original creator of this project. The story revolves around an extraterrestrial named Zim. He lands the surface of Earth with his companions and wants to conquer our planet. A young paranormal investigator, Dib, is tasked to stop Zim from destroying the human population.

The director previously hired a comic book writer, Jhonen Vasquez, to pen the script and dialogues.
But now Nickelodeon has finalized Chris Viscardi for script and dialogue writing. The movie is currently in the works. Meanwhile, the American basic cable and satellite television network are regularly releasing new teaser trailers to create excitement among fans. The release date
We know very little about the exact release date. The channel has given the movie a 90-minute runtime. It claims that the senior VP of Content Development and Production Animation, Chris Viscardi, will soon give a date to the project.
There are rumors that the film is in post-production, which means we can expect its release this December or in the first half of 2018. Fans have high expectations for the movie as promos and posters look fabulous.
