Wondering what time Walmart closes on #New Year's Eve and if any retail stores will be open on #New Year's Day, January 1, 2017? Many stores will be closing early so employees can get home before we ring in 2017, but you can shop 'til you drop at most retailers on the first day of the new year when stores reopen with sales galore.

If you are looking for last-minute party supplies for your New Year's Eve bash, Walmart may be your best bet. Many malls and stores will close as early as 6 p.m. on Saturday night, but you will be able to grab party hats, food, and even a tacky "Happy New Year" shirt anytime you want if you're lucky enough to have a 24-hour Walmart Super Center nearby.

Whether you're headed to Walmart, Target, Costco, Best Buy, or your favorite mall or grocery store, holiday store hours vary during the holiday weekend. Oh, and if you really want a deal, many Sears and KMart stores will be closing forever in the coming weeks, so you may want to check out their going out of business sales.

There will be lots of celebrating as we say goodbye to 2016 and plenty of sales as well for those who can't resist a bargain. However, you may want to head out early on Saturday if you need to get shopping done before the Times Square Ball drops. Walmart stores will close at 8 p.m. on December 31 but you'll have a little more time if you head over to Target — all stores will close their doors for the night at 9 p.m.

New Year's Day falls on a Sunday and it's considered a federal holiday so many people will have Monday, January 2 off.
