Walmart stores will close at 8 p.m. on December 31 but you'll have a little more time if you head over to Target — all stores will close their doors for the night at 9 p.m..
New Year's Day falls on a Sunday and it's considered a federal holiday so many people will have Monday, January 2 off. However, many retail employees will be back to work on January 1 with many stores and most malls open regular business hours including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Old Navy, Victoria's Secret, Macy's, JCPenney, and Kohl's.
