Spooky Empire returns to Orlando on October 7, 8, and 9, marked by a Zombie Walk to kick things off as fans descend on the Orange County Convention Center to celebrate horror, body art, and more. The pre-zombie walk festivities starts at 12 p.m. on the 7th, with the celebration centered at Taverna Opa on International Drive for a free wheeling zombie wedding. Party from noon to 4 p.m., with live music, vendors, food, drinks, and entertainment by zombie belly dancers that fits in nicely with the Halloween season, then join the undead as they stagger to the convention hall.

All undead welcome at the Zombie Walk

If you'd like to channel your inner zombie and know what it feels like to be one of the Walking Dead, you're welcome to participate in the Zombie Walk for free.

However, you’ll have to buy a ticket if you plan to attend the Spooky Empire convention, which starts at 5 p.m. on the 7th in the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center, located a little farther down International Drive. If you want to be sure you’ll fit in among the walkers, professional make-up arts will be available to get you ready for $15. Otherwise, prepare your own get-up for the walk. It's fine, even if you plan to head into Spooky Empire right afterward, as costumes are welcome at the convention.

Spooky Empire starts right after Zombie Walk

The party is hosted by Otis and the Rejects, and Taverna Opa is located at Pointe Orlando, 9101 International Drive. If you plan to participate in the Zombie Walk and head into the Spooky Empire convention afterward, you’ll save money if you buy your ticket in advance via the event website.

Otherwise, you’ll pay a little more if you purchase it at the door.

Even if you can’t attend the zombie walk, you can visit Spooky Empire any time between October 7 and 9. The convention opens at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, with panels, celebrity guests, demos, vendors, a costume contest, and more. With its celebration of horror in Orlando, it’s the perfect way to prepare for the Halloween season ahead. #TheWalkingDead
