The majority of people sitting around their kitchen table planning their next #vacation probably don't have ##Minnesota on their mind. It's fair to say that thoughts of visiting "the frozen tundra" may not be appealing to most. And that is because most people don't know about how diverse the state really is: from vineyards, to fine dining, and maybe even a ride on a dog sled.

Minnesota has it all.

  • Minnesota Landscape Arboretum: Located close to the Twin Cities, with 1000 acres of gardens and forests to be enjoyed year round. With 32 gardens, and more than 12.5 miles of paths and hiking trails, you will enjoy a fabulous day drinking in the beauty. Open 363 days a year. Closed only on Christmas day and Thanksgiving.
  • Carlos Creek Winery: Located in Alexandria MN. One of the largest vineyards in Minnesota, with 160 acres 12 acres dedicated to grape vines and 15 acres of apple trees, Carlos Creek has a wide range of award winning wines. It boasts a wine shop and tasting room. Visit during the Grape Stomp in September with live bands, crafts, and grape stomping competition.
  • Upper Sioux Agency state Park: With 18 miles of trails that wind through prairie grass, into hardwood slopes, and wetlands edging the Minnesota River. In the summer enjoy hiking and horseback riding, winter months offer skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. For a unique experience you can rent an authentic Native American teepee, it's 18 square foot diameter can sleep up to 6.
  • Minnehaha Falls Park: Located in Minneapolis, with 190 acres, limestone bluffs, and river overlooks, it boasts beautiful scenery, and of course the falls themselves are breath taking. It is a rare gem in a metro area.
  • Como Park Zoo and Conservatory: Located in St Paul. Beautiful flowers and lush greenery throughout the large conservatory make this an oasis for every season, make your way out to the zoo, and take in the polar bears, giraffes, gorillas, flamingoes and the sea lion show. Technically admission is free, a $2 to $3 donation is requested.
  • Mall of America: Located 10 miles south of Minneapolis. The nation's largest mall has more than 500 stores, an indoor amusement park, an aquarium, dozens of restaurants, and a butterfly garden. There is so much to see and do at the mall. Join the over 40 million people that make the trip to the Mall of America each year.
