There are no pretentious dishes here, just dishes guaranteed to offer comfort while filling you up at the same time. The menu is packed with familiar items like hushpuppies, fried chicken with donuts (yes, donuts), fried catfish, BBQ pork, shrimp & grits, and chicken and dumpling soup, and deviled eggs turn angelic when the chef adds his touch. Disney Springs just opened the last section of its massive expansion, so if you have a heavy meal at Chef Art Smith's eatery, you can walk it off there or in the Walt Disney World theme parks and not feel too guilty. Go ahead and top it off with a dessert like his special Shine Cake (as in moonshine) for an added treat.

In addition to a full sit-down menu, Homecoming offers grab and go menu items if you don't have time to hang out for a relaxing meal.Get a chicken, catfish, or BBQ sandwich and top it off with a box of french fries or BBQ chips for a quick refueling for your busy Disney day.

Disney Springs spot for healthy comfort food.

All of those dishes might sound decadent, but Chef Art Smith has a talent for adding healthy twists to southern comfort food. He even wrote the book on it, literally, with his cookbook 'Art Smith's Healthy Comfort.' While it's not entirely guilt free, you can at least take comfort in the fact that you're eating a healthy take on those favorite dishes, with the added prestige of knowing the menu was created by a man who was once Oprah Winfrey's personal chef and who acted as a BBQ Pitmaster judge.

Be sure to make a reservation if you want a guaranteed table at Homecoming Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine. Disney Springs is often less crowded early in the day, so it's a great place to eat lunch. If you prefer an evening meal, it's open daily until 11 p.m. #Travel
