As if the restaurant industry in South Florida couldn't already stand on its merits, events come along that allow it to show that the restaurants are part of the community. The Fountainbleau Miami Beach (in preparation for the 2016 Miami Marathon & Half Marathon) is preparing a special "Carb-Up" price-fixed menu for marathon runners at the restaurant Scarpetta. The Miami Marathon & Half Marathon will be on Sunday, January 24th, but preceding that, the #Health & Fitness Expo (sponsored by the Miami Herald) will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Mana Wynwood production village. The city of Miami itself will be on display (not specifically the Greater Miami area as in Miami Beach) during this time, so natives and tourists can walk the streets of the artist enclave of Wynwood, shop at Midtown Miami and frequent its nightlife during this weekend.

Special menu at Scarpetta

The menu at Scarpetta is available from 6:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, January 22nd, and Saturday, January 23rd, which is a perfect time to be on the beach. The twilight hour along the beach sees the shadows grow long along the famous streets of Lincoln Road, Collins Avenue, and Washington Avenue, only to be lit up by the lights of the restaurants and hotels. People are returning from a long day of sunbathing back to their hotel rooms in good spirits where they will take showers and get ready to go out to clubs or get something to eat. The three-course menu would be a choice between several dishes:

The Primi Piatti dishes would be broccoli rabe pesto, heirloom tomatoes, baby basil, and arugula, Arugula salad with toasted pine nuts, pecorino and turccioletto vinaigrette and/or Fricassee of Truffled mushrooms.

The Piatta would be either Spaghetti, Duck & Foie Gras ravioli, or Short Rib Agnolotti Dal Plin with Horseradish, red wine, and bread crumbs. Finally, the Dolci would be from a choice of coconut panna cotta (caramelized pineapple and guava soup), Amedei Chocolate cake with toasted almond gelato, and salted caramel sauce. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the number supplied below. It will be a "healthy living" related weekend with the Health & Fitness expo, the Tropical 5K on Watson Island, and the Kids Run 5K. The meal at Scarpetta is icing on a healthy cake for South Floridians.
