"Fortnite" has gained incredible popularity since the release of its Battle Royale mode in late September last year. In less than five months, the video game has attracted over 40 million Players, becoming one of the most popular Video Games ever. In addition to this number, there were 3.4 million concurrent players over the weekend, which means that "Fortnite" has surpassed its main rival, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds."

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds," also known as "PUBG," has managed to get to 3.2 million concurrent players. This number is still very impressive and it's a great achievement for the game developer, Bluehole.

However, "Fortnite" managed to surpass this number and is now expected to hit over 3 million concurrent players more often. Considering that the game has over 40 million players, having 3 million of them online at the same time shouldn't be a difficult goal to achieve.

Amazing 'Fortnite' milestone

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" was released in March last year, and the game needed almost a year to get to over 3 million concurrent players. "Fortnite" was released in late July, but the game became extremely popular only when its PvP mode was released a few months later.

At the moment, "Fortnite" is much more popular than "PUBG" and it will most likely stay on the top for a while. While the game developer hasn't revealed total amount of active players, it is safe to assume that "Fortnite" is very close to 50 million players.

The video game is growing quickly and it's probably the most played game that's available on both PC and consoles.

Considering that "Fortnite" is free and that it's available on the most popular gaming platforms, the game is expected to become even more popular. In addition, Epic Games, the game developer, has done a fantastic job updating the game and adding new content to it on a weekly basis.

Epic Games' comment

Going from 60,000 to 3.4 million concurrent players within just a few months is a huge achievement for Epic Games. The developers are excited about this, and they also invited more people to join their awesome team and help creating amazing new content for "Fortnite."

"It’s been an amazing and exhilarating experience to grow Fortnite from our previous peak of 60K concurrent players to 3.4M in just a few months, making it perhaps the biggest PC/console game in the world!" Epic wrote on their official website.
