"Fortnite" Battle Royale has recently achieved a massive success lately as the video game reached 40 million players. While it's unclear how many players play Save the World mode and how many of them are Battle Royale players, 40 million is still an impressive figure, and it's something the game developer should be proud of. This week's update will be huge and it's expected to attract even more players to play this shooter game.

The upcoming update will change a big part of the map as it will add five new named locations, as well as a few more non-named spots.

In addition, "Fortnite" Battle Royale players will have a different playing experience as the map will be separated into so-called biomes. However, many players have wondered whether Epic Games, "Fortnite" developer, will add vehicles to the video game.

Vehicles in 'Fortnite'

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is the main rival of "Fortnite" Battle Royale and one big difference between these two games is the size of the map. "PUBG" has a much bigger map, and therefore, its developer allowed players to use vehicles to transport themselves over it. On the other side, "Fortnite" doesn't have any driveable vehicles, but many players want them.

In reality, "Fortnite's" map is relatively small, and players are able quickly to go from one end of the map to another.

Because of this, there is definitely no need for usable vehicles in the video game. However, "Fortnite" players would love to use vehicles, and the game developer recently talked about this.

Eric Williamson, "Fortnite" Battle Royale lead systems designer, recently had an interview with Glixel and talked about vehicles in the game mode.

“We talked a bunch about vehicles and pros and cons,” Williamson said. “But we don’t have a need to add vehicles to get around the map because our travel times allow you to get mostly wherever you want to go." In addition, the systems designer said that the team talked about the unique functionality of vehicles, not only about them being used for transport.

No need for vehicles

"Fortnite" Battle Royale has received many new items since its release, including a Launch Pad and a rideable rocket launcher. Using a Launch Pad can help the players travel the map much faster, and some more experienced players use an RPG to propel themselves in the air and reach a distant destination. Considering that the map is small and that there are already a few ways to travel it faster, there is no need for vehicles.

It won't be surprising, however, it the game developer decides to add another map to "Fortnite" Battle Royale. If they make another map that is bigger, we could see vehicles added to the video game.
