It was roughly two years ago when Sony Interactive Entertainment and Square Enix announced the development of “Final Fantasy 7” Remake as an exclusive PS4 title at E3 2015. Fans couldn’t be happier to hear the surprise and happy news. Later that year, they laid their eyes on Cloud Strife once again in a jaw-dropping trailer at the Sony-centric PlayStation Experience (PSX).

Apparently, there were no concrete details that followed after its initial reveal except for a couple of screenshots teased earlier this year. The game aficionados have waited for quite a long while to receive some release date news as well as a new gameplay trailer.

However, things might actually change this week as Sony promises seven video games to announce at Paris Games Week. The gaming convention will run from November 1 to November 5 at Paris expo Porte de Versailles.

Paris Games Week announcement possible?

Sony confirmed via a PlayStation blog that it will hold PlayStation Media Showcase Live on Monday, October 30. It further teased that “big” announcements will be happening at the trade show this week. This has now led to fresh speculations that a brand new trailer of the hotly anticipated remake will be finally revealed.

The company said that the event can be compared to an E3 showcase, with plenty of official announcements of huge PS4 video games, WCCFTech reported.

The pre-show begins at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time on October 30. After which, the main Media Showcase starts at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Also, fans can watch the livestream via Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, or the official PlayStation website.

What to expect

Unfortunately, Sony plans to make the announcement a surprise to all as it didn’t give the list of the seven titles that will be showcased at PGW.

Game analysts believe that if the showcase is as big as E3, then the gaming community will be treated to some of the heavyweight PS4 titles.

Aside from “FF7” Remake, the list could likely include “Spider-Man,” “God of War,” “Days Gone,” “Death Stranding,” and even “The Last of Us 2.” It is also expected that other 2018 video games such as “Shadow of the Colossus” and “Detroit: Become Human” will be teased too.

Important details imminent

Moreover, speculations of an upcoming announcement for the remake is also based on the words of game director Tetsuya Nomura himself. Talking to Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, Nomura revealed that important details surrounding the release of the PS4 exclusive title is imminent.

It is plausible that when he said “important details,” it could mean the announcement of the elusive “Final Fantasy 7” Remake release date. From the looks of it, the official reveal will mostly occur before the end of 2017. If not at Paris Games Week, there’s a perfect opportunity to receive the great news happening at PSX 2017 on December 9.
