October is almost here and that means Sony is about to announce the big news on the PS Plus free games for October 2017. Prior to the announcement, game pundits made their predictions what video games will be possibly added to this month's lineup.

Notably, the company makes the huge reveal of the PS Plus free games around the last week of the current month. This September, subscribers can expect to hear the exciting news on Wednesday, September 27.

PS Plus free games predictions

Ahead of the big news, however, PlayStation Universe predicted what video games will be downloadable for free in October.

The plausible lineup includes “Mad Max,” “Resident Evil Zero,” and “Assassin’s Creed Rogue.” The report further noted that no leaks have been reported so far.

If this anything to go by, PS Plus members on PS4, PS3, or PS Vita will be able to grab these three games and add them to their collection. It is expected that the free games will go live on the PlayStation Network (PSN) on October 3.

It is noted that the free video games offered in Europe are a little bit different from the list that is currently available in North America.

Other PSN updates

Starting September 26, the new PSN games on PlayStation Store include the latest entry in the football simulation series, “FIFA 18,” “Danganronpa V3,” and SteamWorld Dig 2.”

A Flash Sale in the US is also ongoing on PSN Store where buyers can enjoy as much as 80 percent discount on a wide selection of PS4 titles.

PS4 Update 5.0 out soon

In more news, owners of Sony’s current-gen consoles can expect the release of a big Update 5.0 soon. The upcoming firmware patch is currently in beta testing.

It is expected that PS4 users will be seeing a slew of new features with the next update. The list of these changes includes new friend list management, broadcast feature update, some improvements on messaging as well as enhancements of notification and the quick menu.

Sony has not yet set an official release date for PS4 Update 5.0 but latest speculation suggests it will likely arrive in October.
