Sledgehammer Games is currently busy with the promotions for the impending "Call of Duty: WWII" video game, which is set to release this fall. The developers have also been busy introducing certain changes in the video game following the beta events. However, senior director at Sledgehammer and the man behind the upcoming video game's zombie mode, Jon Horsley, revealed some interesting information about the new game mode.

What did Horsley reveal?

Zombie mode has been a staple feature in all of the recent 'Call of Duty' games. Sledgehammer and Activision have confirmed that this year's game would be no different in this regard.

However, information regarding the mode in "Call of Duty: WWII" has been scarce since then, apart from confirmation of the cast of actors hired to play integral parts in the story of this game mode.

Now, Horsley revealed the first details of the mode. He said that it would feature co-operative combat against waves of the undead. This gameplay style seems identical to the Zombie mode in earlier "Call of Duty" games. The director also said that up to four players would be able to take part in the co-operative mode. After facing down each wave of zombies, players will battle with even more powerful undead creatures.

Horsley said that emphasis is being given to the settings of the Zombie mode, to increase the horror factor.

He promised that the Zombie mode in "Call of Duty: WWII" will be the most terrifying experience in the COD franchise's history. The developers took inspiration from horror games, such as the 'Dead Space' series, to come up with the scary environments.

The Zombie mode will be set in the later years of World War 2, and the events will take place in a Bavarian Village in Germany.

Horsley also confirmed the presence of mysterious laboratories and ancient tombs. Lastly, he revealed that there would be different enemy types, and each of these will have strengths and weaknesses that players must exploit to defeat them. As an example, he revealed a flaming zombie that is extremely dangerous in close quarters.

What else is known about the mode?

Activision and Sledgehammer have previously confirmed some of the actors who have been hired to play certain characters in the Zombie mode. The cast includes David Tennant, Elodie Yung, and Katheryn Winnick. "Call of Duty: WWII" will be released for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 3 this year.
