Finally, the much-anticipated “Battlefield 1” DLC titled “In the Name of the Tsar” is here. After months of waiting, players can now experience the might of the Russian forces. It cannot be denied that the wait was totally worth it.

According to Kotaku, the aforementioned “Battlefield 1” expansion arrives with some exciting changes. Maps are covered in snow, making the battlefield chilly and expansive. So far, it has lived up to the expectations. Here is everything about the brand new downloadable content in a nutshell.

Introducing ‘In the Name of the Tsar’

It holds true that the game excels in the competition thanks to its robust single-player functionality. Add to this a theme featuring vignettes from the historic World War One. While a multiplayer experience is a must in FPS games, it somehow undermines a campaign’s gravitas. Why? Because it turns the experience into a carefree sport or sorts. Interestingly, “In the Name of the Tsar” sidesteps this issue perfectly. Keep in mind that it boasts a set of maps that are both cruel and bloody. More importantly, it wonderfully captures the mirroring realities of the infamous Great War.

If the previous “Battlefield 1” DLC “They Shall Not Pass” offered the casual experience of heavy battles, “In the Name of the Tsar” veers away.

The six new maps, in particular, are large and barren. For instance, Volga River showcases a total of eight control points in Conquest mode. All of these are stretched across an icy tundra and are barely punctuated by some crumbling ruins. Albion, on the other hand, is composed mainly of small islands and realistic mountain cliffs.

These maps give players a brand new gameplay experience. Snipers, in particular, will love the higher grounds. They will have enough space to close out matches using their rifles.

The most interesting map

It cannot be denied that all of the maps from the new DLC are great. But when it comes to having a striking appeal, it is none other than the Tsaritsyn.

It is basically a sprawling urban center where the armies of the White and the Red Russian battle. The map offers a single focal point, which is a huge cathedral. This location perfectly encourages players to undergo extended gunfights. There are also choke points that are perfect for grenades. As for those who love ambushes, they can make use of the map’s multiple levels. There is no doubt that the “Battlefield 1” map is the most terrifying in the DLC. It is really a perfect location for players who want to experience a new kind of combat.
