The game "Resident Evil Revelations" was originally released for Nintendo 3DS in early 2012. It is part of the "RE" series and takes place between the events of "RE 4" and "RE 5." In 2013, after its success on the Nintendo 3DS platform, the game was moved to PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. It recently made its way to PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles and will be available for the Switch also.

In the story, protagonists Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield attempt to stop a bioterrorist attack aimed at contaminating our waters with a deadly virus.

The game is reminiscent of "Cold Fear" (another survival horror game with oodles of zombies) as you spend most of your time in "Resident Evil Revelations" wandering aboard a ghost ship (Queen Zenobia) in the Mediterranean Sea. Jill Valentine -- together with another Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) agent -- were sent in to investigate the disappearance of Chris Redfield and another (BSAA) agent on said vessel. As with other titles in the series, you encounter Bio Organic Weapons (BOWs) affected with the T-Abyss virus as you explore and make progress through the game environment.

A special pack for a special game

Both titles are expected to be released in a special "Resident Evil Revelations Collection" double pack which contains "Resident Evil Revelations 1" on a game card and a download voucher for "Resident Evil Revelations 2." This could pave the way for other titles to move to the Switch.

Fans would love to see the "Resident Evil 2" remake come to the Switch in another "Resident Evil" collection double pack, one for each protagonist -- Leon and Claire.

Improved gaming experience

The game has improved since its first release on the Nintendo 3DS, including improved frame rates and HD 1920x1080 resolution, increased environmental detail, and refined creature movement.

The game also features Raid Mode where you are pinned against a horde of BOWs while playing solo or co-op.

The notable game design for the cruise ship adds an element of claustrophobia to the game setting and the idea of being in a far away ship makes the player feel more isolated compared to the environment in previous titles.

"RE Revelations" generally received positive reviews from fans and other game critics which is why it is wise to bank on such games when porting due to their popularity and existing fan base. The title added to the Switch is not entirely new, but it is welcome nonetheless.
