“PlayerUnknown’s Battleground” has become one of the most popular games over the past few months despite being an early access title. Here, you take the role of yourself as you’re thrust into a killing game with 99 others players. The setting takes place on a deserted island and the objective is to be the last survivor remaining, so it has that Battle Royale or Hunger Games feel to it. While it may seem daunting to try, the game’s pretty simple enough. Here are a few basic tips to help you get started in “PlayerUnknown’s Battleground.”

Don’t stop moving

Everyone’s a target in the game as you can easily be wiped out in a few hits if you aren’t aware of your surroundings.

If there’s one thing you should take note of in the game, it’s to never stop moving. While some prefer to play a bit more defensively, there are players who will hunt others down for kills. If you keep running and switching locations, there’s a good chance that you’ll survive much longer. When going through your inventory, don’t be afraid to dance around a bit so you’re not fully exposed when managing your items. Standing still is a sure way to get killed via headshot by a sniper.

Utilize the free look mechanic

When you’re out in an open field, it’s always best to keep tabs on your surroundings as you never know if someone may be passing through or if another player is hiding behind some trees/bushes.

The only main problem here is that turning your body is that it gives the enemy a short window to ambush you while you’re distracted. Instead of doing this, you can hold down the Alt key and move the mouse around so that only the camera moves and not the player. That way, you’ll have full access to your surroundings without having to compromise your safety.

Fear the blue circle

While players might act like the biggest roadblock in the game, the environment also does its best to kill you. “PlayerUnknown’s Battleground” has a blue circle feature that occurs throughout the game and slowly damages players within its radius. The longer you stay in, the higher chance you’ll die from the environment so it’s best to stay on the move.

If you see it creeping near you, just run and ignore everything else – including items and players. You’ll have your chance to loot other buildings and kill players once you’re in the safe zone. Take note that blue circles early in the game do minimal damage but the base damage continues to stack up later in the match.
