Blizzard will launch a new map and an animated short for “Overwatch” at the upcoming Gamescom 2017. It will be an exciting week ahead as more details about new additions in Blizzard’s first-person shooter game will be revealed.

Gamescom 2017

The upcoming Gamescom 2017 will be held at Cologne, Germany. On its official website, the schedule of upcoming activities for the event is already lined up. Blizzard has already confirmed that it will reveal a new content during the event. The game developer will also release a video on August 21 that will give fans a sneak peek of all the things that are coming in the popular first-person shooter game.

New Map

The highly anticipated announcement from Blizzard for its popular first-person shooter game includes a new map. While details about the new map are still scarce, fans are already speculating that it will be Junkertown. Earlier, a dataminer uncovered a voiceline allegedly that of Athena welcoming players to Junkertown.

Surely, there will be more information about this new map on August 21. A potential playthrough of the new map is also expected to be revealed during the 15-minute panel dubbed as Insights. It is scheduled to begin at 7 AM Eastern Time on August 23.

Animated short

On August 23, Blizzard’s popular first-person shooter game is scheduled to hold its main reveal. According to a report from DoteSports, it is the scheduled time that a new animated short will be shown.

Last year, the team also showed an animated short with The Last Bastion. If the latest datamine is accurate about the new map, then, most likely, fans will be seeing an animated short about the Australian Junkers. This could also give a background for Junkrat and Roadhog as it used to be the heroes’ home base.

Other details

Aside from the new map and the new animated short, those who will attend the Gamescom 2017 will have the chance to play the new map on the game’s booth.

Attendees are also looking forward to the cosplay contest that is regularly held by Blizzard. In addition, German voice actors from Blizzard’s first-person shooter title will perform at the event too. To top it all, FX artist Rachel Day, on August 25, will showcase the making of the latest addition to the roster of heroes in the game—Doomfist.

The upcoming week will be a treat to all “Overwatch” fans. Players are looking forward that more great news will be revealed at the Gamescom 2017.
