Gamers are currently waiting for two big titles coming from Naughty Dog. First, comes the follow-up game to “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” titled “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”, which was recently changed from being a DLC expansion into a full-blown game. Next is the highly-anticipated sequel to the studio’s post-apocalyptic action game “The Last of Us 2”. A trailer for the latter was shown last year and has since been absent from the public eye. Sadly, the developer confirmed that it has not even started full production, which is obviously disappointing news for their fans.

“The Last of Us 2” takes a back seat

A recent interview with Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer and Shaun Escayg talked about their future plans after “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” launches. Their conversation eventually led to questions about the studio’s next direction after “The Last of US 2” is released. Gamers were blindsided when Meyer, the developer’s communications director, revealed that the development has only been minor since it was first announced.

One project at a time

According to the developers, their team has always focused their full attention on a single title at any given time. It was also revealed that the Naughty Dog did not anticipate the development changes made for “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”.

The action adventure game was originally intended to be a short DLC title. However, for some reason, it has grown into a full-length standalone game, which has been warmly received by fans.

More delays for “The Last of Us 2”

Despite the “Uncharted” sequel’s approaching release date planned for this month, the bulk of the team is still occupied with its development.

The game studio also plans to give their employees a break once the game goes gold. Fans should expect to wait a little longer before any updates come up. Meyer said, “a lot of people went straight from ‘The Last of Us', straight into 'Uncharted 4', straight into 'Lost Legacy' and those guys need a vacation.”

Full focus on one game until further notice

The Last of Us 2” will eventually enter into full production as soon as the development team is ready.

Meanwhile, fans have already begun to speculate what Naughty Dog will work on next. The studio confirmed that its current focus is to make “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” successful, then move on to their pending development schedule. As of now, there is no exact release date hinted by the developers.
