The latest updates for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will feature new game modes, possible DLC characters, and a full story trailer.

The story so far

A new story mode trailer for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" has been streamed online and it featured four villains joining Ultron Sigma against the heroes of both worlds. These characters are Jedah, Dormammu, Firebrand and Nemesis as they bring the Dark Kingdom and spread chaos throughout the universe.

Dormammu and Firebrand were first teased in the roster via variant comic book covers and Jedah was featured as a playable character during EVO 2017 along with Gamora.

The trailer also teased a new symbiote monster that the heroes must fight at some point in the story and cameo appearances from Marvel villain MODOK and Dr. Light from the "Mega Man" game franchise. There are also chances that heroes will clash with one another due to their decisions as Captain America thinks that Thanos is the only person who could help them find the Infinity Stones, while Iron Man disagrees with his plan leading to a "Civil War" confrontation.

On and offline modes

Capcom announced new game modes for "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" and they are divided into two categories: Offline and Online modes.

For the Offline modes, these include the main story mode and the classic Arcade mode.

"Missions" will feature players doing tutorial based missions, or try advanced character-specific challenges. "Training" will let players practice each character's move set and hone their skills to prepare them for the real battle.

"Versus modes" will let players fight a CPU opponent or another player using the second controller.

"Collection" will let players view Dr. Light's database which contains numerous unlockable items, cutscenes, character/stage information, concept arts, and audio tracks.

As for Online modes, gamers can engage in "Ranked" and "Casual" matches. Rank matches will pit players online to advance further in ranks, while Casual fights will not affect their ranking regardless of their win/loss record.

The sequel will feature a "Beginners League" mode which let players with Rank 14 or below compete with one another. "Lobby" will let players search or create a lobby with eight players and engages in battle simultaneously. "Rankings" will allow players to view everyone's rank and "Replay Settings" lets them see various match replays.

There are also rumored new fighters that are coming "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" as DLCs and they are Ant-Man, Venom, Winter Soldier and Monster Hunter. Plus, there is still the issue of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters being absent in the game.

It is likely that the Japanese game publisher will explain more details next week, possibly at Gamescom 2017. The sequel will launch on Sept. 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
