A couple of months back, there were discussions on whether or not players want to see the Kanto Region. Ideas and hints were floated about how this place will play a major role in the upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Moon which is scheduled for release this coming November.

Like any other regions, Kanto will always play a very important role in the game since the villainous Team Rocket, as well as Prof. Oak, resides here. And just recently, proof that the Kanto region will, in fact, be included in the game, has surfaced.

Proof that Kanto region exists

Following the revelation of the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Moon, fans and gamers have been waiting for more information about the upcoming Nintendo video game. Today, a new video was posted on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel showing additional details and in-game video trailers.

“There are new buildings and landscapes in Alola -- but that’s not all. Ominous dark clouds are spreading in the sky over Alola... What could this mean?” While the teaser revealed some details and structures which can be found on the Alola region, some avid fans of the game were surprised when a familiar structure suddenly showed up.

The place is quite familiar, especially since it has been served as popular hangouts during the early days of Pokémon.

The looks can’t deceive -- it cannot be mistaken that this is Lt. Surge’s Vermilion Gym which is located in the Kanto region.

According to Polygon, Lt. Surge’s Vermilion Gym is easily recognizable with its place filled with trash cans.

Each of these trash cans contains a switch which can control electrical traps. And though the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Moon teaser video only show at the most 2-second glimpse of this gym, longtime Pokémon won’t be mistaken.

Mysteries and evolutions

Tech website Venture Beat reported that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Moon will take place in the Polynesian-themed Alola region.

The story will revolve around a mysterious Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon character Necromza.

Players will get a chance to acquire an improved Z-Power Ring item. This item gives access to special, powerful Pokémon moves in Sun And Moon. But on Ultra, this Z-Power Ring item gives more abilities.

In addition, a new evolved form for Rockruff will also become available. On the Sun and Moon, Rockruff can turn into two different Lycanrock versions -- midday or midnight form. On Ultra, a third version -- a dusk form -- becomes available.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon will be available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS platform. The game is set to hit the market on Nov. 17, 2017.
