A freshly leaked game listing on Amazon may have unintentionally revealed the Release Date of the highly anticipated “God Of War 4.” If this leak is anything to go by, the official launch will be pushed back beyond its early 2018 release.

Release date delayed?

At E3 2017 in June, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Santa Monica Studio announced that the fans can expect the first-party exclusive title to arrive on PS4 in the first quarter of 2018. However, a recent retailer listing on Amazon now suggests that the third-person action-adventure game will be launched on June 30, 2018.

Game pundits supposed that this leaked release date could be viewed as a placeholder until SIE makes an official announcement of “God of War” release date on PS4. It can be recalled that there were also several times in the past that a retailer listing suggested a launch date.

But besides the release date, the said game listing outlined the content and price of the Digital Deluxe Edition. Priced at $69.99, this special package consists of the digital soundtrack, digital art book, a PS4 exclusive dynamic theme, Exile’s Guardian shield skin, digital comic issue #0, a death’s vow armor set for Kratos, and a death’s vow armor set for Atreus.

Apparently, the Digital Deluxe Edition was removed from the game’s listing on Amazon’s website but the release date is still found on the said page.

A new trilogy on the cards?

In more news, game director Cory Barlog teased that a possible trilogy might be on the cards following the release of the fourth title next year. Barlog said that he created a story arc that is already mapped out for multiple games.

He added that he already thought that an idea of a follow-up to the game is not far-fetched at all.

It is highly plausible that the massive popularity of the new GOW game will demand more sequels. Right now, Kratos’ next adventure has been touted as one of the best titles currently in development for Sony’s current-gen console.

The game director also believes that the franchise will linger for a while and he knows that he still has more storyline to explore for the next set of installments.

That is if everything works out well and the new installment in the series will meet fans’ high expectations.

"God of War" features the adventure of a much older protagonist and anti-hero, Kratos and his son, Atreus. The game serves as a full-fledged sequel to "God of War 3" that was released on PS3 in 2010.
