Rocket League is a fun and addictive multiplayer soccer game with a twist. The car-soccer game has been a hit in the gaming world, growing by the day. Teams take part in driving unique and customizable cars to hit a huge soccer ball into the goal. Players can play a bunch of different game modes in 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, or 4 vs. 4. Nonetheless, the game is pretty exciting and popular among all gamers.

Growing by the day

Rocket League has been growing since its release into the gaming world. GameSpot reports that the game has amassed 33 million players and an estimated 1.6 million play every day.

In addition, 3.3 million players play per week and 6.1 million every month over the past 12 months. Rocket League has not sold that many copies but the game is doing well. Overall, 1.5 billion matches have been played, with players stockpiling 6.9 billion goals.

Nobody guessed the game would be so successful in such a quick time but Rocket League has been continuing to shatter expectations.

Game anniversary

The hit game is celebrating a two-year anniversary this month. The company Psyonix is bringing a huge update to fans of the game. The developer has dropped the game's first ever double drop-rate weekend and more player statistics.

The Octane Car was the most popular over the past year, while the best topper was the Halo.

More statistics can be found on Psyonix's website.

Additionally, all rare customization items and extras will drop with more frequency than ever before starting on July 6th. The chance of getting a painted version of an item is doubled now until the promotion period ends on July 10. Players should look to playing Rocket League more with these many benefits.

The update adds a new map called Champions field. It also adds themed Rick and Morty customization options for free. There are also different engine sound effects and goal explosions that have been included in the latest update. Some of the options will be free, while others will have to be paid for.

Popular on the PS4 the most

The PS4 is the most popular console to play Rocket League on. GameSpot records that over the past 12 months, the console had the most active players at 41% percent. Xbox One had 32%, while PC had a 27% following.

Rocket League will be coming out onto the Nintendo Switch later in the year with cross play support for Xbox One. The game is looking to expand onto different consoles.

Rocket League 2?

Fans should not be expecting a second game anytime soon. The company is just looking to keep improving the first game by adding updates and more customization options. On GameSpot's article, Psyonix's Jeremy Dunham stated,"Our goal was to keep making Rocket League better and better so that we don't lose any of the people that want to play." He continued, "We want to let them know we're in it for the long haul - if they're in it for the long haul."

Who knows, maybe a Rocket League 2 could come out in the future, although the team is still making the first game even greater. Fans and players are surely in it for the long haul.
