The entire basketball community was in deep shock following the trade request from Kyrie Irving. This is surprising, considering the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers have been among the top teams in the league. Who does not want to be part of that, right?

But according to Bleacher Report, Kyrie Irving wants to be traded to the New York Knicks. Based on the reports, it seems it is the only team he is hoping to be part of in the next season. Here is everything about it in a nutshell.

Irving wants New York Knicks ‘very badly’

It holds true that the Cleveland Cavaliers front office has received a list of preferred teams from Irving.

It includes the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks. But based on the recent reports, the All-Star point guard seems to be interested in joining the latter. It is worth noting that Irving requested for a trade in hopes to become a focal point in an organization.

Obviously, with LeBron James in Cleveland, it is impossible for him to reach such milestone. Irving also expressed his desire to step away from James’ shadow. While some understood his desire to pursue a different path, many were simply dumbfounded. They cannot seem to connect the dot as to why Irving would want to depart from a team that has gone to the finals thrice.

Going back to his trade request in Knicks, Kyrie Irving could be a worthy inclusion.

Carmelo Anthony is still a reliable scorer, with a career-high of 25.2 points per game last season. Irving could definitely help the organization build a title contender group in the long run. The only catch, however, is that the Cavaliers front office does not necessarily have to be obliged with Irving’s request.

The superstar still has a contract with them after all.

The only catch, however, is if they force Irving to go back, it is almost impossible to retain the same chemistry. Remember that he and James have started a feud, exchanging shots via social media sites. It was even believed that James leaked the trade request that Irving wanted to keep under wraps.

The Cavs want him still

In a recent report from ESPN, the Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is confident that Kyrie Irving will return to the franchise.

He believes that in the upcoming training camp, he will be there to join the rest of the squad. Unfortunately, he cannot guarantee it.

In fact, the front office has been trying to connect with Kyrie Irving since the news about this trade broke out. But to their dismay, the NBA superstar is not returning their calls. This might just mean that Irving wants out of the team.
