"Kingdom Hearts 3" will hit the stores by 2018. The game is known for its habit of featuring multiple playable characters. It looks like "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be following in the footsteps of the previous installments.

During his interview with IGN during the D23 Expo, Square Enix director Tetsuya Nomura did not say exactly who will be the other playable characters in "Kingdom Hearts 3." In the recent installments, Square Enix started putting other playable characters such as Sora's Nobody, and Roxas and Riku.

Nomura also spoke about the remake of the fan-favorite game "Final Fantasy VII."

Party system for the third installment

Nomura also mentioned the reason behind "Kingdom Heart 3's" party system. The party system will allow up to five additional members to fight alongside Sora. With the third installment, players will no longer need to decide who to bring during the battles. The Dimension Link feature, which was included in the PSP version "Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep," will be removed. Since Nomura told the development team that he wanted riding and fighting during the early developments of the game, there will be a different mechanism and gameplay prepared.

The five additional members are connected with the trailer released during the D23 Expo.

The trailer showed Sora, Donald, and Goofy fighting in the "Toy Story" world. This world is set after the events of the second movie. The three characters shown are the same size as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and other characters from the Pixar movie. Nomura also clarified that the narrative will be the original story exclusive to "Kingdom Hearts 3." The gameplay will feature the characteristics, aesthetics, and style of "Toy Story."

The game's trailer

The trailer started with footage from the previously revealed worlds.

There was also text stating: "Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy. If you can imagine a world, believe in it...and dive in." It was also hinted that "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue" is connected to "Kingdom Hearts 3."

During E3 2013, Nomura announced the possibility of including worlds and characters from Pixar, Marvel, and Disney.

In the third "Kingdom Hearts" game, "Toy Story" will join the world of "Hercules." The game will also feature the new worlds of "Tangled" and "Big Hero 6."

The trailer also confirmed that the game will be released on Xbox One and Playstation 4 by 2018. There might also be a version released for the Nintendo Switch.
