A previous unofficial leak revealed several games slated for Microsoft’s free games for Xbox Live Gold members in August 2017. These were listed as “Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India” and “Firewatch” for the Xbox One. The Xbox 360 was going to get “Condemned: Criminal Origins” and “Forza Horizon 2”, which are also both compatible with the One via its backward compatibility program. However, the leaked titles were not accurate as the company officially announced their correct lineup.

According to their reveal, the Microsoft’s Games With Gold this August 2017 for the current-gen console will be Slime Rancher” for the first of the month, while “Trials Fusion” soon follows soon after.

Several players have pointed out that the Xbox 360 seems have gotten a better deal with “Bayonetta” and “Red Faction: Guerrilla”. Xbox Live Gold members should note that the latter two titles are also backward compatible with the Xbox One.

'Slime Rancher'

The game is classified as a life simulation title and was developed by Monomi Park. It was released as an early access title back in January 2016 and will officially launch for the Xbox One, OS X, PC, and Linux platforms this August. The game is played in the first-person perspective and offers an open-world exploration. The protagonist is a rancher named Beatrix LeBeau who moves to a different planet to become a slime rancher. Players must explore their surroundings to collect, raise, breed, feed, and eventually make money off the slimes.

'Trials Fusion'

It is a platform racing game from Ubisoft and was released back in April 2014. The game was released for several platforms, which includes the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, and PC. Players can maneuver their character around a 2D stage governed by physics-based gameplay. It is inspired by the real-world sport called observed trials where racers navigate through courses made up of different obstacles.

'Bayonetta'

An action-packed hack-and-slash game from Platinum Games reminiscent of Capcom’s “Devil May Cry” series released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2009. Players control a powerful witch named Bayonetta as she uses her pistols and shape-shifting abilities to combat demons. The action game’s development was helmed by Hideki Kamiya, who also directed the aforementioned Capcom title.

It features fast-paced combat with combo-heavy mechanics and cinematic special moves.

'Red Faction: Guerrilla'

Developed by Volition and published by THQ, the game is an open-world third-person shooter and the third game of the “Red Faction” series. The game is known for its destructible structures, which gives players to freedom on how they approach combat. It was previously available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Games with Gold

Xbox One and Xbox 360 users can still download the July 2017 games offered by Microsoft for their Games with Gold program. Players should ensure that they have an active subscription to Xbox Live Gold in order to take advantage of the offer.
