The Nintendo Switch was released earlier this year and has received a strong response from both gamers and critics alike. Not only did the console's features impress gamers, but it also launched with the hugely popular action adventure game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", which received critical acclaim upon release.

More great games have been released on the system since then such as "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", "ARMS", "1-2-Switch" and, most recently, "Splatoon 2". Whenever a new game is announced, rumors seem to instantly start circulating as to whether or not it will see a release on the Switch, and that's certainly the case when it comes to "Assassin's Creed: Origins".

Reveal

After months of speculation, and a few leaks, "Assassin's Creed: Origins" was officially revealed by developer Ubisoft earlier this year at E3. There had been months of rumors and speculation prior to the game's reveal but now we know the facts.

The game will go back to the beginning of the assassin's order and is set in ancient Egypt. We got to see plenty of gameplay trailers and videos and it looks like this could be the most ambitious game in the series. The game was officially announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but Nintendo fans soon began speculating as to whether the game will see a release on the Switch.

Platform Releases

In a recent interview, the game's director, Ashraf Ismail, confirmed that "Assassin's Creed: Origins" will be available on most platforms but he went on to state that there are no plans for the game to see a release on the Nintendo Switch.

He said: “We’re shipping on Xbox One, Xbox One X, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PC, there are no plans to release it on Switch.” The exact reason for this wasn't given but it's possible the game wouldn't run very well on the somewhat less powerful Switch.

The assassins return

The "Assassin's Creed" series has seen games released every year since 2009.

However, after the release of "Syndicate" in 2015, it was announced that the series would take a year off in order to make sure the next game was as polished as possible.

This means that "Origins" has had plenty of time to be made as good as possible and many fans are eagerly anticipating the new installment in the franchise.

We certainly hope it lives up to the gaming community's expectations. "Assassin's Creed: Origins" is set to be released on October 27 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also support the enhanced features of the PS4 Pro and the upcoming Xbox One X from Microsoft.
