What's not to love about a freebie? And when it happens on a Friday and it got its start for a good cause, there's even more to love. National Doughnut Day got its start in 1938 and was created by the Salvation Army to help raise money for people in need.
Where to find a free donut
Dunkin' Donuts: Stop by and grab a free donut of your choice when you purchase a beverage. Don't throw away your receipt! Time reports that there will be a B1G1 free half-dozen doughnut coupon on all receipts on Friday.
Honey Dew: Get a free Coco Loco donut when you purchase a drink (medium size or larger).
The freebie is a new flavor that has almond flavored chocolate frosting covered with coconut flakes.
Krispy Kreme: No purchase necessary at this popular doughnut chain. Just stop by and ask for a free powdered, original glazed, or filled donut. That's it. No coupons, no beverage purchase...nothing! Limit one per customer.
Lamar's Doughnuts: Get a free donut of your choice on Friday.
You must print a coupon (or show the coupon on your phone) from the company's official website.
Tim Hortons: Get a free donut when you buy a hot or iced coffee and mention National Doughnut Day.
Cumberland Farms: It's not a doughnut shop, but how bad can it be? Buy a Chill Zone drink, or a hot/iced coffee and get your freebie.
Offer available from 5 a.j. to 10 a.m. at select Cumberland Farms in Florida as well as states in the Northeast.
Fractured Prune Doughnuts: There's no purchase necessary to score a free glazed doughnut covered in cinnamon sugar. Just ask for an "OC Sand" — one per customer.
