Photoshop has come a long way from being just a photo retouching tool into somewhat of a paintbrush for digital photographers to paint their own worlds. Such is the case for Montreal-based photographer Conor Nickerson, who photographed and edited himself to travel back in time and find a place in his old childhood photos. The idea for the project came, unsurprisingly, when he was browsing through his old photos. According to Bored Panda, Nickerson grabbed all his old clothing and "did my best to put myself into childhood moments which, aside from these photos, remain only a distant memory."

The project, aptly named "Childhood," is a collection of Conor Nickerson's childhood photos from 1997 to 2005, but with his current self-photoshopped in it.

The 20-year old photographer and musician's project was also inspired by "Then & Now," a photo series wherein Nickerson recreated photos of old Montreal buildings and locations. The photographer admitted to Mashable that the new project was "a lot more hands-on work" compared to his previous projects, as he had only been covering events and doing portraits.

Jammin' with the kids

In his "Childhood" photo series, Conor Nickerson did not only photoshop his 20-year old self into the old photos, but he even took the time to dress similarly to the way he did as a child in the photo.

this one shows his younger self-singing, while Nickerson cleverly photoshopped his older, guitar-playing self perfectly into the shot, making it look like it was never retouched.

Hangin' in the backyard

In this photo, Conor Nickerson isn't dressed like his younger self, but it sure looks like they're having a great time.

The pair is seen relaxing on some plastic chairs on what looks like their backyard.

Going out of town

In this cleverly edited photo, Nickerson sits beside his younger self on a train.

They're probably heading out to the countryside to pick some apples, which is seen in the next photo.

Sitting by the lake

The pair also look like they're having a great day out in the next photo, in which they are seen by the lake. In it, Nickerson captures the perfect angle of the light, making him look like he is truly in the photo, sitting right beside his younger self.

Some of the other photos of Conor Nickerson show him and his younger self at home, playing on the floor, sitting on wooden chairs in the kitchen, and standing by a door, looking really dapper. To check out more of his amazing photographs, visit conornickerson.com.
