Kendall Jenner has had a mixed 2017. According to the BBC, Jenner recently topped Chrissy Teigen, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen, and Gigi Hadid to became the highest paid model in the world. At just 22, Kendall Jenner takes the top spot, with her earnings more than stood at around $20 million. This is certainly the best part of her 2017 but she was also involved in controversy earlier this year.

Pepsi's controversial ad

Pepsi launched a new ad earlier this year featuring the popular TV personality Kendall Jenner. In the ad, the star was seen joining a protest on the street, leaving her modeling shoot.

In other words, the ad fell parallel to the on-going Black Lives Matter movement, which was seen as a rather uncalled for move. Pepsi's new ad featuring popular TV celebrity Kendall Jenner was taken off for trivializing the Black Lives Matter movement.

According to a report published by Vibe, the ad was severely criticized for using the Black Lives Matter movement in the scene. Furthermore, having put Kendall Jenner in this position was also slammed. However, it appears that Pepsi realized their mistake and initiated an immediate apology. Moreover, the company also assured the society that the content would be removed and that they would halt any further roll-out.

Kendall Jenner's appearance

In the ad, Kendall Jenner was seen abandoning her fashion photo-shoot and joining a movement that looks similar to that of Black Lives Matter on the streets.

As the end of the ad approached, the model was seen facing a line of police officers seemingly ready to stop the approach made the movement. That was when the model offered one of the police officers a can of Pepsi, symbolizing peace. The officer accepted it, and this established that there will be peace among the people.

The main aim of Pepsi to make an ad along these lines was to project a message to the globe, suggesting that they support unity, peace, and understanding.

However, on the contrary, the ad and Kendall Jenner have been severely criticized for missing the mark.

It seems generally accepted that Pepsi did indeed clearly miss the mark. They apologized on Twitter and in the mainstream media, but people will not forget it in a hurry. Experts have criticized the ad saying that it was a misrepresentation of the actual real-life sufferings that the people who take part in Black Lives Matter movement go through. That Pepsi advert is possibly the biggest controversy which might haunt Jenner her whole life.
