She sued the publication for printing a story that she was a high-end escort. In the end a judge dismissed the case and she re-filed the suit in New York City. She settled for accepting "significant" damages somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million.
First lady role likely to draw more income down the road
Melania's $50 million net worth isn't as staggering as her husband's billion-dollar revenue, or Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump's $750 million empire, but it's still rich by anyone's standards.
Considering the lifestyle she's become so accustomed to, $50 million covers a small percentage of the vast expenses required to lead a jet-setting life.
