The report was the 11th after the company began publishing similar reports in 2016. Information on the CEO's salaries was acquired from company filings at the U.S Security and Exchange Commission. Total CEO 2016 annual salaries included base salary, cash bonuses, stock options, benefits and other perks. The 5 most paid CEO's last year were as follows;

1. Thomas M. Rutledge - $98,012,344

Thomas is the C.E.O of Charter Communications, an American telecommunications company.

The company has 25 million customers in 41 states. The company is the second-largest cable operator in the U.S by subscriber numbers and fifth largest landline provider by client numbers. Thomas has been C.E.O of the enterprise since 2012. The company was founded 24 years ago, its revenue for last year was $29.03 billion, net income for the year 2011 was $355 million. Before joining the company, Thomas was Chief Operating Officer of Cablevision Systems Corporation from April 2004 to December 2011. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Administration majoring in Economics from California University in 1977. He also attended Harvard's Advanced Management Program in 1995.

2. Leslie Moonves - $68,594,646

Leslie is the C.E.O of CBS Corporation an American broadcasting, publishing, and television production company.

He was previously a co-president and co-Chief Operating Officer of Viacom Inc before joining CBS Corporation. CBS total revenue in 2015 was $13.88 billion while its net income was $1.413 billion. Leslie attended Bucknell University and graduated in 1971. In his sophomore year, he changed his major from pre-med to Spanish and acted in a few plays.

He moved to Manhattan after graduating to pursue a career as an actor and played a few TV roles; he later decided to pursue the commercial side of television.

3. David O'Connor - $54,044,394

Also known as Doc, O'Connor has served as C.E.O and president of Madison Square Garden since July 15th, 2015. Madison Square Garden Company is a U.S sports and entertainment company.

The companies 2016 revenues were $1.12 billion while its operating income was $316.79 billion. O'Connor spent 30 years at Creative Artists Agency and as a Managing Partner of the worldwide entertainment and sports agency for 20 years.

4. Fabrizio Freda - $47,691,779

Freda is an Italian business executive and is currently the C.E.O of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc; a company that manufactures and markets makeup, skincare products, fragrances and hair products. The companies 2016 revenues were $11.26 billion while net income was $1.11 billion. Freda graduated from the University of Naples Federico II in March 1981. Before joining the Estée Lauder Companies Inc, Freda worked as the president of Procter and Gamble Global Snack division.

5. Mark G. Parker - $47,615,302

Mark has been the C.E.O of Nike Inc. since the year 2006. Nike designs, develop, manufactures, sells and markets sporting items such as shoes and clothes. Its 2015 revenues were $30.601 billion while net income for the same year was $3.273 billion. Mark possesses a bachelor's degree in political science from Penn State University which he acquired in 1977.
